Rico Speaks: New Monthly Gathering for Rural Creative Voices

The Rico Speaks project was begun to provide a space to honor and to share the myriad creative voices of Rico, Colorado.

We convene monthly in-person gatherings designed to celebrate the poetry, storytelling, and songwriting of our residents and, over time, regional neighbors as well. Community gatherings and face-to-face sharing have been proven to enhance mental health and an overall sense of well-being and connection, not to mention that getting together just feels wonderful!

Beyond the Rico Speaks gatherings, we are excited to amplify local voices further, too. During the in-person events, we’ll be gathering content to spotlight individual writers, storytellers, poets and musicians, and share their voices with the world beyond. We’re looking forward to sharing the voices of Rico via regional radio, media, and print publications as well. Please see our In the Media posts to see what’s been picked up in broader platforms.

To all local and regional poets, storytellers, and songwriters, we welcome you to join us! Second Thursday, monthly, from 6-7:30PM, specific Rico gathering locations to be announced on local and regional platforms two weeks prior to the gatherings. Please mark your calendars for February 12th, March 12th, April 9th, May 14th, June 11th, and July 9th. Feel free to bring a poem, story, or song to share- or just come and listen in, whatever is your preference.

Everyone is welcome, snacks and beverages provided!

This project is supported by funding from the Rico Center, with the collaboration of the Artists of Rico.
